Hi! 👋 I’m Jesse.

Former preschool leader of my backyard Nature Club and co-founder of the fictional childhood companies Little Detectives and Evraf (my last name jumbled up—my cousin and I sold beaded geckos).

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a leader.

I loved bringing people together around a shared goal. I loved creative problem-solving. Leadership, to me, was never just about being in charge; it was about creating something new, fostering collaboration, and making things work better. 

When I stepped into hospital management in my mid-20s, with two master’s degrees in hand, I was ready. Or at least, I thought I was.

Nothing in life had prepared me for what it would actually feel like to give feedback to a team of neuropsychologists, to stand behind an unpopular decision, or to navigate the daily challenges of leading people in a high-stakes work environment.

As I bumped into the realities of people leadership, I felt my energy shift… and I lost my spark.

What once seemed like the career of my dreams became the very thing that led to stress-related illness and panic attacks. I felt like I needed to become someone I wasn’t—tougher, less affected, always on. 

Still, I was determined to make an impact, so I fought off burnout every day, trying to push through no matter the personal cost.

This course is a love letter to that version of myself.

I created Manager Training to make life easier for emerging leaders and new managers just like you—to help you avoid common pitfalls, lead with impact, and build a career you’re proud of without burning yourself out. Because leadership isn’t just about managing others—it’s about managing yourself, too.
